It has been unseasonably warm here as well. In fact, the warm weather has enabled me to spend so much time in the garage that I finished my motor/drive project earlier than I anticipated.

HemiBee
01-05-2005, 11:57 AM
gmiller, I think we should plan a get together at Solomon's. Excellent party spot. Several hotels with slips and of course "The Tiki Bar"

It's about 40 miles north of me and probably about the same south for you. Not too far for Don either.

We talked about this the end of last season....Could be an East Coast Checkmate gathering....

HemiBee:

How is the weather in the Roanoke area ?
With our cold temps, Im ready to have my wife take the transfer out there.

HemiBee

It's been pretty mild this year. Typically Roanoke is a little colder than Richmond. Occasionally below freezing at night and 30's - 50's during the day. But I have to say it would be like the tropics compared to everywhere I've been in MN.
It's in the mountains so probably less humid in the summers than you are used to.

If it were my choice I'd have the moving van LOADED! Smith Mountain lake is near by and VERY NICE.....

Tiki Bar opens the 3rd Friday in April (the 15th this year). It's pretty much a drunkfest....

I'm thinking June or July....look at your calendars and let me know some good dates. Then we can start a thread and try to get some more interest. I'll make arrangements when the time comes.

Dont worry that snow was right behind me. It was 34degrees in Kansas city. then I got about 50 miles east and it was 70deg. with a thunderstorm on my tail. I stopped for a sandwitch at th Indiana line and when I got back to the truck 5minutes later it was poring rain. the rain was supposed to turn to snow tonight.

Hey Cooperider. Before you come here, can you go out to northern New Mexico and hitch up that southern High presure first? We sure would like for you to bring us their good weather. It would have been nice if you left that cold stuff out in the northwest. At least you're not coming from the twin city Minnesota area.

Hey coop:

If you go down south, before you go back east, bring some of that warm southern air up here.
This morning the air temp was -25 with a wind chill of -50, rotten day to be running a car carrier, hauling dead and frozen cars ! http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sick.gif
cold enough so people trying to start their cars, are twisting off the keys in the frozen ignition switch.
Well, done warming up, back out I go http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sick.gif

I relayed that weather with another driver. Usually I back up a bad load with a good one so enjoy. But that last one was just the luck of the draw. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

DONCONVINCER

It was 12 at my house this morning.. That would be a heat wave for our northern friends.. I hear we will be stuck with these temps for at least a week.. I'm not looking forward to dealing with the forcasted snow for tomorrow and over the weekend.

What kind of windows and insulation can keep those brutal temp's out of your house ? http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/Eyecrazy.gif !!! The walls and windows in my house begin to feel cool with temps like we had last night. I don't think I would want to trade you annual utility bills even after my summer A/C costs

jgreen
01-18-2005, 05:27 PM
I'm not really up on the R-values of insulation, but I know they are pretty high.
Everything is insulated, exterrior walls, attic, floor, basement walls, steel insulated doors, very energy efficient furnace and windows, gotta do everything we can to keep the cold on the outside!

BullittBen
01-19-2005, 08:34 AM
The wind chill was 6 at my house this morning....That's crazy for coastal SC.

Keep making carbed 2 strokes....I need global warming!
