It's very easy to figure out the hub diameter on the Laser II.

The odd pitch Laser II (21, 23, 25, etc) is the 'large' hub or 'standard' hub size designed to fit snug to the Alpha lower unit, also used on the V6 outboards.

The even pitch Laser II (22, 24, 26, etc) is the 'small' hub size, made for the small diameter early XR6 gear case, XR4, XR2, and the inlines.

The small hub Laser II can also be used on the standard gear cases for when engine exhaust is needed to help the prop 'spin up' quicker on launch. The exhaust gasses will flow both through and around the hub, ventilating the blades.

For your application, I'd strongly recommend a new 26" Laser II. You have a stong engine on a smaller boat, so I'm guessing the smaller hub big-blade 26" Laser II will be the ticket for 75+ mph speeds............ http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

A prop seller is always advertising Merc props in the back of Bass and Walleye Boats magazine for well under $400 new. I'm thinking the Laser II props were selling for $359? Great price for a new prop.

illMATTic...
Either will work, but the SMALL HUB will be better for your motor/hull combo... and I'd aim for a 26P one to start.

Check e-bay... theres a few small hub 26's on there for $150ish right now.

congrats Illmattic! Has the prop been worked on? If it has, and the leading edge has been sanded flat, then it'll be about 5 mph slower than a sharp leading edge prop.
I had a 26" that I ran into some stones and dinged up the leading edge. I sent it off to Michigan Wheel, and they ruined it! They took the nice sharp factory leading edge off, and sanded it flat. I was pissed. Had to throw that prop away.

so i got the prop in the mail today. http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/zx11pissed.gif they sent me a fudging 25P. i called the guy out on it and he blaimed it on a co-worker listing it for him. he said he would refund my money. i guess we'll see how it goes.

JW, i was thinking of keeping it but it has been worked on. all sanded flat on the edges.

what makes me so mad is i passed up a true 26P that actual sold for less than this one.

That's too bad! I'd say try it then re-sell it if the stupid thing hadn't been ruined. Did Michigan Wheel work it? As soon as that leading edge is sanded off square instead of being nice and pointy, it loses 5-7 mph. (in my experience, 26" on the XR6)
