Not sure.Looking at a V8 Johnson 300 GT.Sure would like a 300X but its out of my budget.
Fnshmaster I believe I know where a 300x is. the guy only wants $2400.00 for it but I did not hear it run nor look it over but it does look new... the boat it was for is wrecked bad and is no good for it he's says. But I do know one thing it will be going quick 2 people was there and it does not look like they were to interested but maybe they are I don't know that. I will check on it tomorrow and see if the guy had any hits on it ......

2400.00?Are you sure?
Yes I did check, it is for $2400.00 I took a friend with me and it is a 300x. My friend looked at is and says it does have a few minor flaws such as Pump, Carbs, and the guy said ignition packs. The gentlemen tried to start it and it fired , ran , and spitfired bad (I think it might be out of time) and quit. He seems not to interested in keeping it, he did state it is going one way or another. I tried to nit pick about it to see if he would break and tell us more about it. My friend is now interested and I know he is unable to get it now. If it is still there in a week Friend will get it. That's all I have for you. It is fixable and not expensive to get it done I think. I don't know how much stuff like that would cost for that anyways. I am not that experienced to know enough about the 300x and that's the truth. Coop told me to post this for you so I did and I am glad to find any information for you that I may have not asked. I look for anything and everything everyday for boats in my travels around town and on the road all the time. I will stop and look everytime. I owned a boat and it was hard to find deals for mine. I will look around some of our boat places we have here and see if they have any used ones in greater shape and price and will let you know.
SORRY, I don't know much of those.

This might be an older 300hp Merc 3.4L...???? There's NO WAY this is a new style 300X for that money and all the 300X motors were fuel injected and look like a space ship just dropped them off...(new style alien cowling).... If you get model numbers or serial number we would know for sure... http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/irked.gif
If this is a REAL 300x (or even a 300 ProMax for that matter)...these started in 1998 with the 300 ProMax, and the 300X was available 2000 and up...we're talking about an outboard that is $18,000 new...it's worth more than that in PARTS alone!!! RUN to the bank, get a loan, buy the thing and make some money if this is REAL!!!!

PDW told me to tell you guys to post questions to ask the guy with the motor when he goes to check it out cause he does not know alot about that type of motor and does not know what to look for on it. He's gonna try to get some contact info for it. Help him out with some questions to ask. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Cooperider is correctI don't know much of it and Please give me some insight on it and it will be helpful to me to understand more about it. I will find out what year it is also. If it crosses my mind I will try to get pics of it and post them to give an idea of what I looked at. Thanks Coop for helping me out on this matter. http://checkmate-boats.com/groupee/forums/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/beer1.gif http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/welcome.gif

Is this thing HOT? Got to be for that price. Either that or the guy doesn't have a clue as to what it's worth. I would think he could sell it back to any dealer for more than that. A guy could get more than that for it with a hole in the block if it is a true 3.0L 300 not old 3.4L.
