need help want more speed % performance .all stock 150 marriner mag+alloy prop 23 pitch.Friend drove boat states boat not correct prop slipping . boat has good hole shot+plans off quickly. top speed 51, talk to mechanic states jackplate waste of money see better on a stainless steel.Note sure on rpms boat was in the water all summer. I think a 21 stainless tempest the ticket.Any ideas.

Laser 2's are usually pretty good props for Mates. I don't think a jackplate is a waste of money at all. But I would take a prop first if I had to make a choice between a new prop and adding a plate.

My 171 Pulse with a '91 150 XR4 does a solid 60 with a bow cover on it and a high five prop. I don't have a plate. That should give you something to aim for.
