What is the smallest performance boat I could use to travel along Long island, in salt water? Could I use a 24' boat? The Stilletto caught my eye. Any feed back will be apreciated

First I have to ask if you are planning on boating on the North or South side? I am on the south side. I would say that a 24' would be enough for either side under the right conditions. On a windy day, the north side can get too nasty. Being that it is basicaly one big body of water, there are not many places to hide from the rough water. However, to me , the south side has the best of both. If the day is good, nothing beats the ocean for a run. If it is windy, then there are plenty of channels in the bay to salvage the day. During the summer months, the biggest problem you will face in the bays is congestion.
