How to boost H.P. on 225 Johnson

I have a 88 225 Johnson (Looper) on my Starflite. I've heard they are a good motor and can be boosted to a higher H.P. without much work. Can anyone tell me what it would cost and involve bringing the H.P. to about 250. Also is this years model's H.P. prop rated or head rated.
