Well guys, The Mate is inside for the winter, it's colder than a well digger's butt outside, snow is on the ground, and the box that the Christmas tree came in is now laying across the front of the boat. Boy does this suck! Kinda got me to thinking, what is on every body's Christmas wish list. So let's hear from every one. What is on your list? For me it's a hand held gps(to use in other peoples boats so they will believe me when I tell them that their 115merc is not running 95mph), an early spring, and for my 2100 Pulsare to be 3' longer when I pull it out in the spring! Happy Holidays, boatman http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

An early spring? YES! that tops the list for me. I could really do without these wretched blizzard conditions were having right about now. http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/yell.gif
A Gps would be nice, but so would a set of nice guages for the new mate....hmmm or maybe a new Speedzone prop http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Best wishes and Happy Hollidays to all http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/beer1.gif

I got my present early, an 80's mid for my old Merc so that I'll have Tilt & Trim and a standard BIA bolt pattern.
Now for Christmas I just hope I get to keep the boat! We've decided that my wife is gonna stay home to keep the kid, so some extras may have to go. Wish me luck (or a raise).

The time spent on the water with Mom and Dad are giong to be really special to your little one Adam. Part of the reason I wanted to find an older Mate was to bring back and share the good times I had boating when I was a child. Best wishes to you and yours !!

Well the family dug all their loose change out of their pockets and gave me a sizable donation towards a new Merc for our tin boat.
I guess the fact that I've been walking around for three months saying Mercury 25, 25, No Johnsons, finally drove them over the edge.
Now I just have to figure out exactly which model to get. I kind of have my eye on the new 2006 EFI model. It's pretty kewl. 4 stroke, EFI and doesn't need a battery, and comes with a three year warranty. If I don't go for one of those, I suppose I'll get a used Mercury "Camp" motor.

Hey Chris, Maybe you should shop around for a left-over model and pocket the savings! My 2004 Pulsare has a 1996 motor with 04' decals and no onehas even noticed. Merry Christmas to all. boatman

Actually,
The '06 model looks really kewl. It's an EFI and runs without a battery, so you can rope start it. It's 20 pounds or so lighter and is 4 stroke.
I have a bit of time, I'll first have to see how much of a difference price wise the '06 will be versus a '04-'05 2 stroke.

Thed 4 stroke sounds cool but I bet comes with a cool price tag as well.

I'll have to see what it's worth. If it's too much, I'll just go with a newer 2 stroke 25 Merc. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
