I've noticed since Saturday, a number of members have made comments about what is, or is not going to allowed on the board.

So I thought I would start a thread where we could discuss the matter, together. After all, the forum is here for all of us.

Considering, I can only recall closing two threads since last September when we first opened, I must admit I'm a little surprised people would feel that they had to walk on egg shells, or watch every little thing they say. I can assure you, that's certainly not the case.

Just so you know, I have always had a personal preference to closing threads, versus editing or deleting posts.

So, what would cause me to close a thread?

A thread where members are engaging in personal attacks with one another.
A thread which I feel has been started to do nothing but incite trouble.
A thread which I feel is headed for trouble.
A thread which has simply run it's course.
A thread which I feel is a negative influence on the board or its members.
A thread which seems to promote hate.

What would cause me to edit a post?
Posting Racial Slurs
Posting something Libelous
Excessive Swearing in a post
Posting Pornography
Posting something extremely offensive
Inciting Hate and or Violence

What would cause me to delete a post?
Probably a thread which wasn't worth trying to edit.

Anyway, I'd like to here your thoughts....

Hello Chris...

I understand all thosr rules and I'd stay by them. I just have one comment to say about closing threads... You have definatly closed more then 2 threads since September... Maybe 2 bad ones such as ZT 240 etc. etc. but more than 2 altogether... Thats all I really have to say as that I don't disagree with what you have already said... Thanks...

Checkmates may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they are the nicest looking!

I meant closing it down on people. Now, there are certain threads I never really opened to begin with. For example, some of the new boat ones. I did that because I wanted people to debate the boats over in the main forum, not in the news forum. Make sense? http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
