Well this is kind of a silly question but do you guys think I should cut my dash inorder to install a cd player???
There is a perfect space for it and I am tempted to...

Cutting the dash is no big deal. When your done, it looks like it came that way from the factory. Just use a fine blade in your jig saw and take your time. It's also a good idea to put a couple of layers of masking tape on the dash and then mark your hole on the tape. This protects your dash from the saw base and helps keep the gel coat from chipping while you cut. Overton's has a nice in dash mount with a spring loaded soft touch lid. boatman
Hate to cut up a classic perfect condition dash, but if you don't do it the next owner will anyway, so you might as well!! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

I usually hate to cut a big radio hole in the dash, the bubble covers look so big But your dash has a lot of wide open space, it will probably look pretty good.

You need a water PSI gauge in that other blankgauge spot also.

you could get a sony with a wired remote and hide the headunit.
if you do cut make sure you tape off the edges you are going to cut. this will help keep them clean. are you going to put it right in the middle?

This is the clarion face Ill be using. It will probably be mounted in the center under the custom edition decal.

I have that Clarion deck.
Make sure you put a cut off switch in to kill the clock lead or your battery will be dead after a week. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

i agree with illmatic on the wired remote idea but stick with what u got the clarion is a much bettter unit plus u can get a wired remote for the clarion they make one that will fit in a gauge hole its 2 1/4" i think im not exactly sure but you could put in the blank hole F150gt is talking about even though i dont see it in the picture. i would mount the head unit in the port side box up high and use the cover piece boatman said to use but make sure it is still accessable for a passenger to change a cd if need be while underway plus the haed unit will be protected from harsh uv rays and overspray and the wired remote is a sealed unit so it will be fine

Thanks for the advice guys. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif
I'll look into the wireless remote thing...not sure but I have an idea of what your talking about. I am also hooking up kill switch to the radio as well as colored LED lights under the deck and seats.. should look cool at night http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/surf.gif
The area where you said to mount the deck is going to have a new stainless handle, so it cant go there. I think It looks best in the center, But I am still gonna see how Chucker's sugestion about mounting it below looks.

If you put it under the edition plate it will have plenty of room around it for heat to dissipate and will most likely lokk great filling in that space. You'll also have close enough acsess to it that you won't even need to use a remote. That Clarion is a really nice unit, I might add! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gifOriginally posted by Boston Predictor:
