A friend of mine discovered he had some internal problems with his 502. He needs a set of stock pistons.Besides Mercury Marine, where else can they be had for a semi reasonable price?I guess the Merc. price is unbelievable!

I am shure he can use a set of good hi performance pistons or gm pistons just have to make shure you get the same compression ratio
and say that it is for a marine application

The 502 marine pistons are forged... check exact bore diameter. Summit Racing sells "JE" pistons for that motor (flat tops) but they aren't cheap as you have already found out. New JE ones are about $500 a set plus the rings.... but I don't know if they're stock bore or ??? Call Summit and ask... Good luck, Jim

He's looking for standard bore pistons.I believe 8.75 to 1 comp. Its a 1997 engine

The JE piston's are 9 to 1 flat tops with valve reliefs...perfect for 89 octane pump gas!

Note: strong pistons...some guys are using them with blowers and they're beefy enough to shave the tops to lower compression.

Call Summit...Jim.

You could also try www.probeindustries.com (http://www.probeindustries.com) ask for a Mark O'Neil, he is the owner of probe and great guy too. He frequents another one of the boards i rome on. They will be cheaper than the JE's
