I talked to Bill Combs today about an un-related boat, and he brought up this new ZT220. He said they had speeds of 71 mph with the new Mercury small-block motor. Sweet!

Which motor did they have in it JW? I gather a 5.7 with how many horsepower?

My guess would be the 6.2, that engine comes in around 377hp. Rick

What would that be in cubes? 396? Wouldn't that be a big block?

Actually...I just found the answer to my question.

It was the 6.2, but I don't know whether he was talking a Scorpion 6.2 377 horse or the standard 6.2 engine. I'm guessing the standard motor. I'd rather have that boat with the HiPo 525 HP......

Actually the new 6.2 liter is 383 cubic inches. What Mercury did was use a standard 350 block with a 4" bore and added 1/4" to the stroke, making it 3.75" stroke. This is the same recipe as the old days of getting a 400 cu.in. crank and dropping into a 350 cu.in. block. The reults are the same ---- 383 cu.in.

mmmmmm, I always thought the horsepower rating indicated how many horses it took to pull the boat...... http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/lol.gif http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/Eyecrazy.gif http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/xxrotflmao.gif
