I am having problems w/ my battery staying charged. If I run the blower or radio for anymore than 5 min. my battery is toast. I would like to run dual batteries but don't know how to do it? Any suggestions? My main purpose is so I can play the radio while tied up and still be able to turn her over when I am done.

Start buy buying a new marine rated battery. Today not all batteries are created equal. Some batteries are used for starting and there are others that are made for starting and electronics.

To install a dual battery system you need a device called a battery isolator. This device allows both batteries to be charged at the same time but prevents cross discharging between the 2 batteries. Check them out here:

Another option is buy a new battery and install a device called a ‘Priority Start’. This device cuts off the power to the accessories if the voltage drops below a certain level to prevent dead battery on the water syndrome. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Once the Priority Start ‘disconnects’ just try to start the motor and the Priority Start reconnects allowing a motor start. I bought one and installed it on my battery (starting/electronics type). With a fully charged battery I can run my indash and all my lights for about 7 hours before the Priority Start disconnects, telling me it’s time to start the motor and charge up the battery. You can check it out here:

West Marine has them for about 80 bucks.
