about this motor? I'm not a Merc guy (always been into OMC) and I want at least 250 HP for my boat. I've been told to stay with low RPM motors for reliability, but this looked like a good deal at the right time. Can anyone tell me what this motor may have been to start before he built it up and if this year motor is worth having or should I pass and wait for Promax 225 or 250XS or maybe a Promax 300? I'm close so I can pick it up and check it out:

I would be worried about reliability with that motor. Also check the guys feedback, If it were me I think I would pass and wait for a Promax.

If you want a bigger motor for your heavy checkmate, look for a bone stock Merc 3.0 liter 225, 250, or 300 or get a big Johnny/Rude. I'd stay away from frankenstein motors if you are a family man............
