I want to install an inexpensive in hull depth gauge in my enchanter. My choices are Uniden, teleflex and Hummingbird models. Anyone have any experiance with these units? Will in hull units work OK in my checkmate?

Everyone I know who has run aground has had a depth finder. Two things, they are only as good as the installer and they are only as good as the driver. You still need to know the waters, it is reading depth that 90% of your boat has already passed over. Mine is a Gaffrig, which I believe is made by Teleflex for them, shoots through the hull and the only time i get inaccurate readings is in choopy water. I do not rely on it when running on plane because like I said, than it is too late.
