top speed starflite on the GPS

Heelo Guys and girls,

ok the ultimate test of my 89 21 ft starflite with a mercury 225 EFI,hydr, cmc lift 23 tempest plus

also very good weather here in holland, first run 3 big people, and 2 kids 35 gallon of feul
little wind and nice waves, the 68mph on the gps wow that is not bad i tought. 2run only me and a frend, 70 mph gps and the limiter starts bieping to many rpm's WOW i tought i would blow up the engine! BRRRR that is not a good feeling, i did not sleep the last night, did i #@*%&& the engine?? and can pull the engine a 25 tempest plus?? would be glad to here from you guys.

You more than likely did not hurt the engine. Thats what limiters are for.
What was the RPM? You would do well with a 25p tempest. Each inch in pitch you go up you generaly drop about 200 rpm. Good speed with the boat.

Thanks i am happy that the engine is ok, 6150 rpm's than the beep starts, i drive to my dealer today and order a 25 tempest, or do you think another prop would be better for the starflite? thanks again. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Should work well,a 25 would put you about 5500 rpm, make sure the dealer will let you try the prop, or has a return program. Props are strange things. You would also want to try a laser 2 in 25 pitch. Great bow lifting prop.
