so i have come to the conclusion that i need a bigger motor. there ar e too many boats faster than me on the river. there are too many 24' baja's on the water with 454s. im gonna be in the market for a 175 hp or so motor here soon. 51 mph isnt fast enough.

Be carefull with wanting to get much over 65 in that Predictor The boat becomes an aircraft at about 70. Mine had an In-Line 140,it's real scarey when the bow lifts. You better be wearing a dead man teather.

Ya know what? these 175 efi motors on a 185 pulse, they fly pretty good. Mine was airborne for a second or two on sunday. What a feeling!! Tell me, should all checkmate owners have pilots licenses? http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Making 'em FLY is lots of fun. What's really fun is flying through a series of about 3' rolling swells. If you get your speed right you can pop through a few and get air repeatedly.
Your Pulse with the 175 ought to fly good. I once had a Predictor,at high speeds they get scarey. Something about a 750lb boat with a max of 16 gal of gas at 65mph compared to a 1400lb boat with 30gallons of gas .. both with the same enging.... 2 different animals
My boat at 3000lb+ with 400+hp is a different animal still...

How's the landing? mine was nice and easy, but I bet comming off a bigger wave, catching more air, they can probobly get pretty rough and scarey. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Last year I was out on the Patapsco River outside Baltimore,Md. The water was real rough with 3 foot rollers and white caps. I could get on top of them and skip through 3 or 4 at a time at about 45-50 MPH. The engine rev between swells sounded real good. I had lots of fun launching off the waves. Some of the landings were real slamers. I could come up and hit the throttle and fly. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/surf.gif The 2 guys I had with me were laughing, the girl was scared to death. When we got back to the house I found some damage. The battery hold down broke and one of the gas tank brackets broke and one of the back seat brackets broke. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/Eyecrazy.gif

What's up with the girls anyway, my wife won't ride with me when I want to go "play" she always wants to go back to the dock. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/irked.gif

i was just out on the saginaw bay this weekend. as i wet out there were only 1 footers wich was fine. as the day went on we were in 3-4 footers. its fun to hit a couple when your flyin down the river, but when there all over and your boat it at a 45 deg. angle........ it gets tirsome. some were so tall all i could see was water or sky.

My wife doesn't mind going fast,to a point, as long as its on smooth water. The wind makes it real hard to see above about 55-60, that's when she starts fussing. She's ok in rough water as long as the bow's up and the speed is reasonable. I don't usualy see much more than 1' waves where I go, most of the time it's reasonably smooth
