well i have decided to paint my boat. the 27 year old hull needs a face lift. i want to do everything but the very bottom. that is the only area that still looks nice. i will leave that black. i will be painting over the original flake.
i kinda like the look of boston predictors boat. the two tone is nice. i also like all one color.
i have the chalk colored seats with charcoal carpet. i think i could get away with most any color.
here are some color combos im just throughing out here to vote on. remember the very bottom will stay black.

I have alot of great ideas for paintjobs.
I I think you might like some of my designs.
If you want, i'll scan some drawings of the predictor that I made with some diffrent paint schemes and you tell me what you think http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Yellow black & white will always look sharp. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

oh yeah, when you say bottom do you mean below the water line only, or the sides too?

I can't wait to see the finished panint jobs on these predictors. I always wanted to paint mine.
My final my final sketches are alot cleaner. however i had to reformat my Hardrive and I haven't re- installed Photoshop CS yet so all of them are by hand.
Checki, It would be great to see some of your color test pics.

Nice picture Bostonpredictor. Hope you dont mind but I took the liberty of coloring it in with a sharpie I had on my desk. THis is what I was thinking about for my predictor. Hope I can paint better than I can color.

the best way to come up with something great is keep trying as redundant as it may seem...the KEY is to use tracing paper and just mess with the colors until you find something that you like. without tracing paper it can be very frustrating...
If you have anything in mind let me know I've got plenty of markers and tracing paper... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Looks good, its a SCKETCH it doesn't have to be perfect, the only way to get better at it is to keep doing it.
I just saw my '78 Predictor leave today.

http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif that one looks really fresh too. I am a big fan of blue and orange. I am glad my sketches have helped you. I had a blue Z28 w/ orange under the hood and it looked awsome. Its because orange is the negative of blue. its kinda like an optical illusion. I think that one is the best bet http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

yes, the marker realy does it right. thanks boston.
i realy like it. i was thinking of adding a white line dividing the blue and orange on the top.
hey checki, thats a nice sketch. is that one you desined yourself? or was that the original color?
checki
12-15-2005, 02:22 PM
Yes I desined by myself. I think, a light colour is better for a small hull.

The blue and orange is my high http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/sleep.gif school colors; The Lincoln Park Railspliters class of 1981.The colors on a boat, NOOOOOOO!!! I don't think SOOOOOOO!!!
Class of '81 Merc245? Me too.................. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif
I'd still go with red/white/black. Those are classic Checkmate colors and always look good, and won't look dated like some combos will......................

hey its still early yet. besides, i usually make a last min. decision and go with something totaly different. i like the orange. blue and white. it needs more white on the top.
the red white and black would be a second choice for me i think.

Checki thats great artwork there. Are the sketches done freehand or by trace? Either way they looks awsome, especially the last one. The seat design is nice too. great job
Illmatic i cant wait to see how it all turns out. I would go with the blue flame and white.

I love the "bling bling" of metal flake. What ever color you go with I hope you can do it in some heavy flake. Red got my vote on your poll http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

talk about a rock and a hard place....The red looks really nice with white, and it is a classic checkmate color, but the blue is more flashy in my opinion, which is also good because this is a hot boat here, especially with that big V6. Then again it would be nice to see this thing in red that matches your truck....either way you will have a killer boat http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Great looking sketches and color schemes, looks like you got a tough choice ahead.
IMO it would be either a combo of red or yellow, but whatever you do it will look cool. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

oh man Geoff, that red and black is going to be my boat. I am thinking about an interior similar to your sportfire. Gray and red.

Yeah i made that for you, Thats gonna be a great combo. I was gonna post it on your page but thought it would be better to post it here with the other drawings. hows the progression on yours and have you decided to re-power it w/ a v6?
Adam L.
12-21-2005, 04:23 PM
Progress is going okay. Holidays and baby on the way has slowed it down. I need to talk to the upholstry guy and get the ball rolling there. The bottom is done and ready for primer.
I am beginning the search for more power. Definately merc., probably V6, unless I come accross a great deal on a newer 115/125.
