Hey Everyone, first and foremost, I'm very glad to find this message board. I've owned my Checkmate now for almost 3 years, and thought these beautiful boats to be nearly extinct due to their rarity.

Anyway, I've got an '87 Checkmate Ambassador. It's a 19'7" blue on white with matching interior, and a Chevy350 under the deck. What I'm curious about is just what this boat's worth? I ask only b/c it's in need of some reupholstering, and Checkmate quoted me 1200 for a new interior. Now my dilemma is to keep the boat and put in the new interior, or sell it as is and put that sale money toward a newer Checkmate.

What's my boat worth? How's that price sound for the interior?

Comparedto the shops around where I live, that sounds like a freat deal, not to mention, it is a factory job.

thanks for such a fast reply Bill. What do you think about the sale price of the boat? Does anyone else here even have an Ambassador? It seems like this is a very uncommon boat to come across.

The value of your boat is hard to say. With Checkmates, they seem to only worth what the demand is. Where I live, they are pretty unknown and do not have a very good resale value. Up in your neck of the woods and throughout Michigan and Ontario, there seems to be a higher demand for them and worth more.

It seems like bowriders are always good sellers especially with a 350 V8 in it.If the gelcoat was decent ,new interior and had a good trailer it would be worth around $5,500-$6,000. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

When I insured my '86 Ambassador, my ins. co. said it was worth $6000 on average, w/ trailer. Mine needs some cosmetic & wood work in the seat supports fore & aft, but picked it up for $2000 w/ a 206hp V-6. Hope to beef up the ponies some day.

Anyone know what speed my boat should run with the current 206hp and with 300hp if I upgrade?

was the 1200 for just the skins or wood and all?
I would think with a new interior it should pull between 5500 and 6500.Thats where ive been seeing them go for.And with a 300 hp 350 it should do low to mid 60's. Thats where mine runs depending on conditions . low side 62 high side 66 . http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
