I am in the process of replacing the floor. I have also found a couple of damaged areas on the outside. They are located below the front seats. The outside gel coat is completely off. I want to make sure I do not have a place for water to get in! Is this repair something I could do or should I take it to a fiberglass repair professional??

Thanks!!

Wow, that first pic looks like there was an air pocket in that area.

If you are handy you could do it. But there is gonna be alot of grinding work.
First you need to find out how far that air bubble goes. Take a rubber mallet and start tapping along that ridge. If there is more air anywhere your gonna want to find it now before you have it repaired.
All of these damaged areas then need ground down to the glass. You can then reshape using a product called Duraglas. After that use a polyester filler for final shapeing.
DO NOT USE AUTOBODY FILLER FOR THIS REPAIR IT WILL ABSORB THE WATER.

Respraying the metalflake. That takes a little bit of experience. Might want to go with a pro on that.
BEWARE: Most shops charge a premium for bottom repairs. I have seen shops start with a minumum of $500. Do some shopping.

I do not think that there is an air bubble there. The picture is a bit out of focus. The red metalflake is chipped down to the next layer.
You mentioned "have to be ground down to the glass" Is this the light colored area that is showing?

Can you use the same fiberglass resin for this as you use on the interior or will it fall off?

The dark shadowy area to the right of the gash in the first pic looks like and air bubble.

Polyester resin will stick if prepped properly to the inside or the outside.

Ground down to the glass. Yes it is the light colored area. But it will need some other grinding to make the repair. I'll have to take some pics of the next one I do.
But basically the area to be repaired will have to be enlarged and blended in with the rest of the hull. I'll try to explain better when I am not as tired.

Thanks!
You get some rest and I'll try to get some clearer pictures. I do see the area you described.
