ON MANY OF THE OLDER BOATS THE THREADS BUILT INTO THE FLOOR BELOW THE SEAT PEDESTALS FOR THE SCREWS ARE WORN OUT. YOU MAY HAVE TO REAM OUT THE HOLE AND DROP A STAINLESS STEEL TOGGLE BOLT INTO THE HOLE TO REPLACE THE STRIPPED OUT THREAD.

another fix can be ream the hole the cut your self a plug of a hardwood dowl rod say, oak mix up some resein pour in hole and soak your plug then drive it home. then drill your pilot hole use a good size screw to expand your plug even further. the whole repair is hidden under the pedastol.one solid repair that lasts years.

Same question, except my bolt problem is for motor mount bolts. I have three stripped out bolts on an inboard right rear mount. Will inserting a toggle bolt work? How about epoxy fill, then re-tap threads?

TOGGLE BOLT IS ASKING FOR TROUBLE ON MOTOR MOUNTS. REPLACE THE MOUNTS WITH OFFSHORE MOUNTS ON L BRACKETS THROUGH BOLTED TO THE STRINGERS.
