hey guys, i'm a new comer to the site and I am tring to rebuild my '79 trimate II. I have all the carpet and seats out so far. There are about 3 spots in the floor that need to be repaired. The problem I am have is the bucket seats. I was going to buy new ones, but can't find ones that bolt to the orignal mounts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dustin

Glad to see someone else is bringing an old MATE back to life. There are a lot of threads with many helpfull hints on doing some great restorations. Floor replacements are a very popular subject. Good luck in your quest...

thanks guys, yea I think I found some cool seats from B&M. I'll have to do a little modification b/c they are swivel seats, but it will work. And I'll get some pics up as soon as possible!

If you have the original seats Checkmate can sell you skins. If the bottoms are rotted out there are threads that can give you hints on repairs or make a post, I'm sure you will have lots of help. If you need help on how to make mounts for swivel seats click on this link...

What size shaft are you running on your outboard on your trimate?

Its a 20" shaft motor. I was running 4" below the bottom of the boat with the jackplate as high as it would go. So when I built the transom I ran the back streight across so I could mount the motor 3" higher and with the new plate I will be able to get the motor up even higher.

What engine are you planning on running?

I don't know yet, but i'm going to go look at a '96 merc 150 w/ a 25" shaft. Do you think thats too long.

I think 25" would be to long, that monster would be way up in the air. Keep looking they are out there, just need to find one.

thanks yea there was a old 150 merc w/ a 25" and it did stand up high. but what if i put a jack plate or something to raise it?

You could do that,But I think you would be at the upper limit stops before you got the engine up high enough. The other thing a 25" motor would is raise up the center of gravity.
