OK. I thought I saw a post about this a few weeks ago, but my search only revealed a topic several years old so I am bringing this up again. What do you guys recommend? Of course you need to be aware of the fact that my boat is stored outside under a cover, but not under a roof (at least not for the time being), so I am fairly stuck on getting components that are supposedly water resistant (marine compatible). I have some ideas picked out and would like to hear your opinions on them as well as your suggestions. First I am leaning towards either a Rockford Fosgate or MB Quart head unit (they appear to be identical except the R/F is white, the MB/Q is black... I am sure neither one of them actually build this unit but just buy it and put their names on it). One thing I like about these is they are the only single DIN marine radios I have found with 3 sets of pre outs and they are 5v preouts at that. Here are the links:

With these I would like to install a marine style amp as well, but with space and weight a concern I was wanting to keep it down to one amp so this is the one I was considering:
http://marine.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=262
I have found this amp for sale between $309.00 and $559.00.
Also along with the amp I would need 2 sets of 6.5" round speakers and a pair of lower wattage 10" subs. I am contemplating between these 2-way speakers (I have found the Infinity's as low as $90.00 a pair and the Kickers for $60.00 a pair)

and these,

Lastly, I have only found a few 10" subs to fit the bill, they need to be waterproof as they will be in the boxes under the rear bench, they need to be free air compatible, and they need to work with relatively low wattage, and be fairly reasonably priced (keep in mind I want two if for no other reason aesthetics). So far I am leaning towards these:

So what do you guys think of these options and which would you choose if it was you and why. I just know I have to get some cool tunes before this season starts. TIA

If you're thinking of building on your own, Visit partsexpress.com . They have great deals on individual components. Might take a little effort and ingenuity, but it may save you a few bucks and you might end up with something you really like 'cause you took it upon yourself.

Not sure which Clarion you had posted in the pic, but I really wanted to stay with the standard size (1 DIN or whatever it is called) to fit the existing hole. None of the clarions I have seen have 3 sets of preouts except for the larger ones and even those only offer 2 volt preouts. Have you or anyone reading this had bad experiences with Rockford Fosgate or MB Quart marine head units? I wish Alpine made a marine unit, but unfortunately they do not.

ive got the R/F one your looking at...with the wired remote. i like everything about it really. but.....
i may just make a change in it this year. im leaning towards the sony because it can have a wired remote with a display and with my deck underside in the cuddy id really like the display at the helm.

if your interested id sell it....make an offer.
id have to pull it out though!! wouldnt take but a minute...still have all the manuals and box too!!
let me know,
kevin

Do you have the RFX9220M or the RFX9020M??? I was under the impression the 9220 was a new model this year (MP3 format compatible). Actually, I am sort of leaning towards the MB Quart unit simply because all of my gauges are black face and I was thinking it "might" look better. Still not sure though. Of course all of my gauges are 18 years old and could stand to be replaced, and of course if I did that there is no telling what color gauges I would go with.
