Buy And Sell

One issue that has come up, is what to do with boats in the buy and sell forum that are either no longer for sale, or were sold. JW, Gus and myself discussed the issue, and here is what we've decided we will do. We will edit the description of the thread and put in brackets (Sold) or (No Longer For Sale) etc.

Because members can only edit their posts for up to 60 minutes, after that point you will have to email one of the moderators or myself who will change the description of the thread. And please, if you sell your boat, let us know so we can change the thread accordingly. That will save people from chasing boats that are no longer for sale.

Why did we change it Z?

Because the mods and myself were pissed off that Checkmate Goof went around deleteing and editing threads and posts all over the place.

That's why.

And why did he do this?

Because he didn't agree with my decision to close a thread and decided to go around doing as much damage as possible to this community upon his exist. Those settings gave him the ability to do it, so they were changed.

And just to let you know, one of the threads he deleted, happenened to contain about 6 pages and well over 1000 page views and was the most popular thread here according to the numbers. Add to it, that I had spent friggin hours cropping and uploading many of the photos he deleted and needless to say I was more than a little ticked off. And not just ticked on my own behalf, but also for the people who's words and photos, were deleted by him.

I guess in his messed up mind, the administrator who pays for the board closing one thread with an explanation is unfair, but it's more than fair when he (Checkmate Goof) goes around deleteing other people's posts.

And besides, the default setting for that parameter is 60 minutes. So someone has probably already been through this and I should have left well enough alone and kept it as it was.

I understand. I still am confused. How does someone delete whole threads? Once you get a reply to a thread, you couldn't delete the whole thing. You could delete your one post but not everything. Sorry to ask, but was this person CMG? The one someone here like looks up to? CMZ? I understand your reasoning...

Umm...think hard Z.....when did he Check out?

And no, he attempted to delete everything he ever posted until I deleted his membership. He probably deleted over 200 of his own posts alone. He also deleted many of the threads he started which also in turn deleted all the responses.
