View Full Version : 1999 Mercury Opti-Max...

I am trying to dig up some information on the Opti-Max. My buddy who sold his Pulsare found out the motor blew for some strange reason. It was in great condition before he sold it and he has heard that there has been problems with this motor. Can anyone please explain the problems to me? http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I have read a few articles about trouble with the various fuel injection systems on the direct injection engines. OMC/Bombiedier (sp?)
has had problems with the FICHT system as has Yami and Merc with the High pressure and low pressure air through fuel delivery systems. They can lean out at higher RPM for different reasons. Still a relatively new technology for Outboards. Like anything, the latest models should have worked through any initial problems.
