"""This is my newly acquired Checkmate Persuader 183 Bow-Rider. It has a 4.3 LX
Mercruiser, Alpha drive with 1.62 gears, seats 8, and has gone 59 mph on GPS
with a Laser II 23" prop. That prop is wrong for the boat, I imagine a
Trophy or other "heavy boat" prop would get me over 60 mph. Great speed for
a V6 in a deep I/O bow rider. Reading Hot Boat, many $45,000 boats with
V8's have a hard time getting into the low 60's. I bought it on a 'whim',
after a long search for a good 'Stream. I didn't have any luck, and found
this boat for sale for a good price during a summer vacation. It only had
22 hours on it when I bought it. It's been a great boat, as it gets great
gas mileage compared to my 2.5 V6 Merc OB. This is a fantastic hull
configuration for pulling tubes and skis. The large swim platform, big sun
pad, and fold down ladder makes boarding from the water extremely easy.
This boat makes large wakes for the bold. This is the boat my family
loves, and they don't want me to get rid of it for another OB hot rod!""""

I think that stopped with the Pulsare. Anyways, why don't you share some other stuff with us. We'd all like to hear... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif

Ahhh yes, that looks like my old Hydrostream.org Guest Book article I did for Mark Casper. He has the greatest site on the 'net for one brand of boat. This site here will probably overtake and surpass it someday. Depends on Chris' staying power......

She was a beauty wasn't she? That's the reason I like red so much. Was a great boat for towing skiers/tubers. Good gas mileage, but at 59 mph I was REALLY bored. A guy that I still e-mail with bought it, he towed it out to New Mexico. He's sent me some fantastic pictures of the scenery. He almost pulled the 4.3 LX motor and put in a 350, that's what I'd do if I kept it. They don't make the 183 anymore, and I don't know if they have the molds either. The 18-19 foot open bow family boat market is HOT, it really surprises me it's not made. Kip? If you read this, why don't you make this 18.5' model anymore?

I'd like to have another of these, but instead of the small 4.3 liter V6, I'd want the nice tame 350 Mag MPI motor. With a 100 horsepower increase, it should take this boat from the mid fifties with the V6 to the mid sixties and still get decent gas mileage when towing a tube.
