I remember merc made a promax 150 at one point. Does anyone know anything about them? Where they good? I would like to put one on my 89 Predictor.

Very good 2.5 Laser injection motor. Very reliable Promax differences from standard 2.5 fishin' motors:

Solid motor mounts
carbon fiber reeds
increased rev limiter to 6750

Basicallly the upgrades you want to do to a standard motor to increase performance without losing any reliability is what mercury did for the Promax motors. They are strong, reliable motors. Available in 150, 200, and 225. The 1994 through 1997? motors were the best. The 1998?-2001? motors had some bad engine ECU's that ran too lean, and a lot of them fried pistons. Was a recall on those motors.
