My son is buying a 92 starflight, and we took a look at it last night, The boat is very sound, but it has some fading and kind of hazy white on the deck, what is the best product or best method of getting rid of this, short of having the gelcoat redone. If it was me and that was the route I was taking I'd only do the deck. This is a great website with a lot of knowledgeable people. so be sure to check back. Maybe another member has tried it. If there's positive feedback on the clear coat I'd like to try it myself. I hate waxing every week!!! Good luck with the new Mate!

First, even with clear, a boat has to be waxed with the proper product, not an auto wax. You should be able to have a 21foot boat wet sanded and polished for around 500 bucks. Maybe a little more or less depending on seeing the boat in person. If you have never restored fiberglass yourself, it is not the time to learn. Have it professionally done. Very, Very important... USE MARINE PRODUCTS!! Just because a product has a Corvette on it does not mean it is for your gel-coat. I use a Product called Race Glace for the care of my boat and when I restore a boats finish in my business. There is other good stuff out there, but I have found this over all to be the most ecomical while giving the best results. I recently got rid of a dark blue 1985 Checkmate that had a better finish on it then the 2003 ZT 240 I just had built for me. New or old, clear or no clear, it must be polished regularly. A freind of mine just got a new Velocity 260 about 3 monthes ago. He has not waxed it yet and guess what... it is starting to oxidize. I hope this helps a bit! Good luck. By the way, to have a boat re-cleared properly will cost about 5-6 grand!!
