http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif With most steps, you actually loose part of the hull, it's cut away, forming the step, or multiple steps. Some companies actually bring their step out to the outer chines, causing turning, spin out issues. Checkmate actually adds/drops in the rear, then goes up in the front. It's pretty small, both inversions are about 1/4 inch. They are far enough back so they actually work (ever see the new Regals step in the front of the bow? What the heck is that, it's not even in the water) and do not cause turning issues. Steps should be done at the business end of the boat, to not cause turning issues, but help break the friction and increase performance! Way to go Checkmate! Rick

Thanks Rick. I wasn't too sure how it all worked out either so thanks for explaining that. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
