Water Toy Tow Ring Installation

My convincor 251 classic does not have a tow ring for tubing and water sports. I want to add one. There is minimal space on my transom becasue of the plastic swimplatform. It appears that if I drill it in place it will not be through the thick part of the transom. I know it needs a big backing plate. Does anyone have experience installing this. Let me know, thanks

I was looking at getting the ski tow from Dana marine products. (http://www.danamarineproducts.com/store.cfm?CatId=14&group_id=2&CFID=40719&CFTOKEN=15884451)

Just need to know if its going to work through the thinner part of the transom?
