Just a couple of words about the donation deal.

I put the little page and icon together a week or so ago and didn't announce it. I purposely put it there quietly, because I didn't and don't want people to feel like they have to donate or that they need to donate to the site. The main reason I put the donation option on the board was because from time to time there were members that expressed their desire to contribute to the board via a donation. And we didn't have anything set up to allow them to do that. And to be honest, I somewhat resisted the idea for a pretty long time, for a number of reasons. Recently, someone commented to me that they felt, by giving the members a way to donate to the site, what it was really doing, was allowing them to "invest" in what essentially is their, and also everyone's forums. And that the donation process, actually created more of a sense of community. And I had never really looked at it from that perspective.

So, I decided to make available the donation option for y'all if you feel like it's something you would like to do. But it's certainly not expected, nor is it a necessary thing I want anyone to feel like they have to do. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Find a picture of what you would like to use and then crop the pic to 130 pixels by 130 pixels. Avatars are best when they are square. You can then upload the pic. You have to upload and set the avatar in your profile area. To get to your profile area, you click the GO tab at the top of the board area....then go to "my space" then profile. That will bring up the area where you can set the info about your account. On the top right hand corner there will be a link which says "View/Edit Complete Profile"....click that link. Scroll down and there is a field that says avatar/picture url. Click edit. Then click Custom Avatar and you should be able to upload the pic you cropped. For donations, you can click the donate button on the bottom of the board and it takes you to a donation page. If you click the "make a donation" button on that page, paypal more or less guides you through the rest of the process.

I'm working on a package of small perks for our supporting members. I'm sure a few of you have noticed we've added a usergroup legend at the bottom of the screen. I'm currently working out the details of the program and we'll look after our supporting members once we've got the program in place and working. We've currently got a couple of members testing a few of the program's features to make sure they're working properly, so once we sort out the bugs we'll reveal the program and put something in place for the members that have previously donated.

If you do it that way, your membership gets upgraded automatically by the board. You can also do it through our old donation page too if you prefer. If you do it through the donation page, you'll have to wait for me to upgrade your accounts. We've got the subscription service set up so that for 15 U.S. you get 6 months and for 25 U.S. you get a year of upgraded benefits.

The information i have learned from the site is well worth more than probably the donation amount.

Especially things like what props are working good for certain boats/setups etc. That alone would probably save me alot of cashola in not having to guess and then making windchimes out of all the accumulated props laying around! lol

As it stands right now, our only online payment system is through Paypal.

There are a few ways to donate through Paypal, but probably the fastest way is to use the paid subscription system located HERE. (http://checkmate-boats.com/forums/payments.php) Going through the subscription interface automatically upgrades your membership to the supporting status.

You can view the details of the "perks" you get by becoming a supporting member HERE. (http://checkmate-boats.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5417)

The other way to donate is to go to our donators page, which can be accessed by clicking the piggy bank icon graphic located at the bottom of the board. On the donators page there is a link to paypal. Here's a quick link to the donators page.

If you use the Paypal button on our donators page, because it's not linked into the board's subscription interface, I manually upgrade your membership status. Which is not big deal but does normally take a day or two for me to get to.

As a couple of reminders,

Firstly, please make sure to put the photogallery to good use and upload some pics of your Checks. With the gallery, you can also link to your photos that you upload into the gallery and post them on the forums. It's really easy to do, if you need some help figuring it out, don't be afraid to post up a thread in the supporter's forum and myself or one of the gang will walk you through how to do it.

Secondly, all of the supporter's subscriptions also apply to Endless Boating as well. If you happen to be a member over there, please PM me if you would like to be upgraded and I'll will get you fixed up. That's something I have to do manually, so just PM me if you would like that done.
