i just bought a 1984 20' checkmate enchanter with a trailer no engine . i want to know if i got a 1 good deal 2 aight deal 3 bad deal 4 one heck of a deal the boat is in very good shape just needs some tlc. so far i have a total out of pocket ivestment of $1000.00 but after some trading off of hard labor the total purchase will be $1800.00
ive been around boats my whole life and i know a deal when i see one and i think i got one heck of a deal but what is the average selling price for that type of boat theres not to many down here in s. fl to get some good comparisons so my knowledge is limited

The value of older boats is all over the map. But the main determining factor other than the obvious one, desirability, is condition.

Any Checkmate that is a complete wreck is probably worth very little unless it has some kind of collectable value.

So if your boat is in good shape as you state, you probably got a very good deal IMO. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have the same year Enchanter, bought it the same way for about the same price, Mine was in real good condition and I think it was a good deal. I've seen them go for less but they usualy need a lot of work. Happy Boating
