As many of you know I am in the process of repainting my predictor. I am obviously going to need new decals. Should I go with what I refer to as the Bubble letters (what was on it), The older syle that has the checkmate logo on it, or something custom?

I have the old style with the knight decal but I am getting the bubble stickers. I love the knight decal but the letters are too small. I want people to see that its a checkmate from far away. It would be nice to have the bubble style with the knight http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Adam,

My Enforcer has the older style letters with no logo... they are pretty large and even though they are red on a black hull stripe they are still very visible.

With all the custom lettering available, with colors, drop shadows, big variety of letter fonts, sizes, slants, etc... you should be able to find something that says "Checkmate" loud enough for anyone to see....

I have been thinking of redoing mine as well and I keep thinking to keep it original looking! The paint job you are doing is it the same paint or custom? I would match the decals to the paint. The stipes that I am getting done are going to de a 3m reflective like on police or ambulance I figure my paint is shiny may aswell have shiny decals! thanks

I went from the smaller, blue with silver trim and the checkmate logo to the larger bubble style, black with silver trim.I wanted the factory 1970's style but they are no longer made. You may want to Look in the Showroom and pick out one you like but Mike has only limited styles and colors left in the older decals. I got a solid color modern set the first time around but they didn't look good to me at all.

The "bubble" font is called Coopers Black in case anyone is wondering.

I wanted to redo my lettering in Coopers Black with the rook logo but I have decided that the origional "old style" (don't know this font) looks best on my boat.

Here is a pic of factory Coopers Black with rook logo on my neighbors Starliner.

The Cooper Black that is on your neighbors checkmate is different than the bubble letters that I am referring to. Here is a pic of what was on my mate. Only pic I could find was after I started pulling the decal off.

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d117/wickedrister/ff13ede1.jpg Adam I'm with you, the bubble font looks good on the smaller mates. It's a tight fit but looks good. Check out Bakedgoods's Predictor he has the red decals on a black boat. They look cool on his boat. That decal may work out good with your red and plack colors? I know Mike has plenty of the black with silver trim ,like on my boat. He said the white or silver with black trim are long gone.

Thanks Wicked. I checked out bakedgoods and I think that might work. I will be putting them over black.

Do you have a link to where you got them on ebay? I would love to see some pictures.

I was looking at the decals on the new mates and I kind of like them. Here is a shot of a 2000 Closed deck that someday I will own. It may take 20 years, but I will own one of these http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yep, they have several styles that show up on ebay now and then. I just go to ebay motors and type in checkmate.
Here are the ones that are going on the boat. They will be stuck on the sides are the rear in the black.

I had seen those on ebay. I was wondering if that bothered the factory any that someone was reproducing the logos and making $$ off of them. I am trying to find some good material to make my own small ones (on 8 1/2 x 11) and print them with my computer and printer. The ink may not hold up very well though. If you printed it backwards on clear stock, you could stick them on the inside of your boat or truck glass to protect them some. If I get anything that works pretty well, I'll post it and sell them just for enough to cover my costs.

This is what I had come up with. It looks almost just like what was originally on my 76. It will probably be huge, sorry.

They do try to stop it also. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Chris, I had a feeling that was the case. I doubt they care if I make something for myself, but selling it is another story.
