Thinking about buying L29 vortec heads for my 454 (330) would like to have some input if that is a good idea. If any has done this before i would like to know what they got out of it?

Simply bolting on a set of vortec or any other head will not make any noticable difference. You would have to make the remaining components of the motor match the new heads to gain their proper potential. Increasing head flow wont help if the carb, cam, intake and exhaust will not flow as good as the heads.

I have a 88 convincor and i realize i need to match the intake and cam. just wondering if i'm better off using that settup or getting work done on the stock heads and going that rout.

im not sure about the vortec heads but a head, intake, carb and cam change can make a noticeable increase....
get some numbers off the heads, old and new.

Send a PM to LIVE4SUMMER about this subject. They are very knowledgeable about mods and other tech questions. All numbers and specs from your current set-up will be required by them.
