http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gifHoly sh^t!! It just keeps getting worse. First I ask how it's coming in "play to win" then I saw you were asking about rebuilt power heads in "ask the experts" Then I see this. Can't yours be rebuilt? What happened? Check with Supreme Marine. They might have a motor for you. I would sell my 2003 but I would need more than that for it. I would like to get a 225x for mine. Also check S&F.
Good Luck!

Jim: I am going kind of back and forth with the repair shop, its kind of a toss-up now as to which way to do this, I have 2 scored cylinders, scored crank and rod bearings on 2 cylinders, need 2 pistons, 1 conn. rod, 2 sleeves, re grind the crank, maybe a new crank the motor has been apart before, already has had a sleeve and a piston. I called the former owner and he maybe willing to pitch in on the repair since it apparently was a problem when he owned it, I am so mad right now you couldnt imagine http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/zx11pissed.gifthe cost of a new powerhead is only about 400.00 less than rebuilding mine and then everything is new. I will know by the end of the week what I am going to do. Which way would you go?

Geez!!! Your suppose to wait till closer to winter to shell em out. It's hard for me to say as I would rebuild mine myself. For your situation I would weigh warranty, and how fast you want to be back on the water. Also be sure you find what the source of the problem is. If you are going to ring it out for all the speed you can I would want a new or virgin crank. I'm sure there are places out there that can rebuild them and do a good job, but I would want one that was not rebuilt if I was going to use it in something I was going to run hard. Good luck with whatever you do! Sorry to hear of all the trouble.

I wont grind the crank, I have never been a big fan of grinding crank journals, you are just more likely to spin a bearing. I have a couple of different possibilities now so things are looking up. My local checkmate dealer found a different motor set up by a merc performance guy that he has used quite a bit himself. they will give me about 2000.00 for my motor and charge me another 2000.00 installed set up on the jackplate and install all my guages. I also found a new powerhead for around 3200.00(ouch) but either way I could be back on the water in no more than 2 weeks. They both have the same warranty. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/irked.gifJust need to decide which way to go.
