Sorry JW, I sold my Big Yellow Pickup and got a Tahoe Z71. I talked to Hypertech and they can reprogram it for the new motors but it will cost me another 200 bucks. I guess it isnt that bad but they cost 350-400 new anyways!

I am looking for one of those for a 2001 GMC Heavy Duty 2500 with the 6 litre. I need one that the vehicle was programmed back to stock so it will work on my truck.

Why would you need that with a basically brand new truck? I have the 2002 Avalanche and used to have the 99 Silverado and I had NO problems whatsever. It would be a good investment though... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I do not need it, my truck is a pulling monster. I just am always looking for MORE power. I am never satisfie with stock, as soon as I buy something, I start tinkering.

Sounds just like you and a boat, except put cars in there... How much power do you already have. Anything over 300 in a truck like that is awesome...

JW, my boat has not sold yet, but my buddy may be interested in yours? I would sure like to put a downpayment on her, only problem is my tax return isnt quite that big!!

Bill,
If you go to ebaymotors and do a general search there are a lot of people selling hypertech power programmer III's. I called hypertech and they stated they would reprogram any ppIII for 200 bucks to whatever truck you currently have? Maybe a thought if you come across one almost free???

good luck

Thanks for the advice ND!
Z- when I got the truck new, it was rated at 300 HP and 365 pounds of torque. I have done some intake and exhaust work and I have engineered a pretty clever ram air induction system to get more air into the motor. I do not know what the numbers are now but lets say I can easily smoke both rear tires if the need arises. I am always looking for more! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifYou should get a video of your truck uploaded onto here. You should get a set of mags put on like I did with my Avalanche. I'll get a pic of mine up for ya... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hey Z, I have been looking into wheel and tires for my truck, I need to do a lot of research though because as the truck sits now, it just barely fits into my garage (heigth) and there are quite a few parking ramps I can't get into. Also the taller tire I go to, the more power I lose because of the diamter and rolling mass and I am trying to keep it within a certain rpm range with the 4.11 rear end ratio. I do not care about gas mileage, it is the torque and HP. I plan on taking the 240 all over the place and I have a heavy foot which I would like to keep without the gas pedal on the floor going up hill. I towed a 25 foot eliminator for someone this summer from northern wisconsin back to Iowa with the cruise set at 80 and the air going, got 12 miles to the gallon and never flinched on hills. I will get a pic of her so chris can post it for me. There should be a section for everyone to show off their rigs.

Why don't you get a set that are the exact size that they are now? It wouldn't change your height but it would really change the appearance. I'm going to make a thread, like C'Mate God told me I should where we can post pics of our ride...

Easier said than done, every manufacturer is different, also, I want to go a little wider. You would think people would make it simple and no matter what brand you buy, a 33x12.5x16 would be the same?!?!

Thats what I did on my Venture van as well. The ones I got are like half-three quarters of an inch wider and it looks way better... Good luck finding a good set. I will look around mag sites and see if I can find a good set for you...
