Thought I'd try this forum out.

I have a 2000 Pulsare w/ 300 Merc Promax. Been driving Checkmate O.B. boats since I was a little kid.

Just thought I'd stop in...

May be a week or so before I can post some pics. Will have to go and dig some up and scan them. Could use the digital camera at work, but boat is all put away and covered up.

My Pulsare puts up respectable numbers with the 300 Merc. Gaffrig speedo will bounce on 90 mph and with handheld GPS I get around 85 mph. Use to have a 225 Promax on her and it ran decent with that as well (mid 70's) but that motor just seemd to be lacking in torque (for a Pulsare anyway). Seems funny to say that, I remember when we use to run even heavier Starflites with 175's and 200's and we thought it couldn't get any better.

My set up: 28 Trophy Plus small hub, SportMaster gear case, 8" setback, hydraulic jack, propshaft set 3/4" below pad. (If I want better hole shot, I just move it down with the hyd jack.)

Other props that work decent: 26, 28, or 30" big ear Choppers.
