I have it penciled in on my calendar, and I may bring along some friends or relatives. Is there a Hampton Inn close by?
Yep, I see my Hampton Inn is all booked up for the 1st and the 2nd. What's going on there that weekend????

I am staying at the Holiday Inn, City Center. That is where I always stay when I go up there for what ever reason. It is only 5 min. from Bayview. Better start calling now, places have been sold out up there for a while now!!

Hey Rick,
Here is an idea for you if your are among the living... Call the local hotels and find out what is available for the people who have not made reservations as of yet. I just checked the Holiday inn where I am staying and they are sold out. Next year you should block rooms for the event at the Holiday Inn and if you do it far enough in advance, you can get a pretty good discount! Of course, people with cuddy's can sleep on their boats in the Marina there.

Disturbed,
I will getting into Green Bay about noon on Thurs. The boat ramp is between Bayview and the hotel and from the ramp, it is about a 5 minute idle to the holiday inn down the river. You might want to get with Rick about staying in their marina, it would be more convient as far as parking ect... I would also recomend that you get Rick's cell pohone number to call him when you get close to town to meet up with everyone, especiall if it is dinner time.

Wavepointe is absolutely beautiful. It is just south of Sturgeon Bay, just a beautiful resort, not to mention the ride there is amazing. Well worth the trip if you have enough fuel to make the 40 miles. You can fill up when you leave green bay, and fill up again if needed at Wavepointe. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif

Hey rick, just an idea to throw at ya'... How about doing the show n' shine fri eve so all can sit around and have a wobbly pop and admire each others boats ans keep sat morning open for getting out on the water and playing around. Do not know if the Yacht club will let you, but have people park in the grass just outside the yacht club in that long stip of grass. I do not know about everyone else, but I like to get out on the water around 10-10:30 to get a full day out there. Again, just a thought.

Just a little infor for those of you traveling to GB next week... If you are coming in on 43 from the South and you are like me and try to tow with as little gas in the boat as possible to save weight, When you get off of 43 in Green Bay, turn left and there is a nice gas station with lots of room for a boat and truck. They have a pretty good convient store and also a do-it-yourself car wash if the rigs get dirty from the tow. That is about the only gas staion aroundn ot to mention the most accessable. When you are done there, just go back the way you came from, pass 43 and pick up on the directions to Bayview.
Just a friendly reminder for trouble free towing (hopefully) Grease those bearings, inflate the tires, tighten the lugs and top off the brake fluid if you have brakes. I sure hope there is a good turn out, so far I have only seen Disturbed to be the other definate, other than Gslinger who lives up there. Maybe this will be the first annual Checkmate Party!

There are about 6 checkmate owners around here and I would think that they would attend.
I just checked that Days Inn, no availability...What's going on up there this weekend???
Anyway, there's room availability at the Sleep Inn in DePere (south side of Green Bay) in case anyone is still looking. Go to www.sleepinn.com (http://www.sleepinn.com) and you can find it there. We won't be making it this year, what a bummer.

I'll just have to boat in the rain. Bill what time are you going to be there? Wish i was leaving today. I can't wait.

I wish all of you on the forum would have been able to go to the checkmate regatta this past weekend. The weather was less than nice the whole time, but you know us powerboaters, not much stops us from getting on the water. I arived thursday night, and of course slept because of the 13 hour trip. Friday morning Herb and I went over to bayview and met Bill and Stephanie( Awsome boat with the metal flake in the Graphics). We went out for a cruise of Green Bay, and then friday night met up with Gslinger and his wife Allison.( very hospitable people).( Awsome 280 ).Saturday went pretty well to considering the weather. We got to raft up and drink a considerable amount of wobbly pops,ok scratch that statement we probably drank all that greenbay had in stock. Any way kathy and i decided to stay Sunday and got to boat aferw hours before this horific storm came through and washed us out.I hate to type so i will leave the rest to Bill when he decides to get on here and post all the pics of the regatta. And i want to send out a big thanks to Larry at Bayview for making it all worth the trip.

Nobody got pictures, Bill and Disturbed were infront of us, gslinger was behind us but it happened so fast they couldn't get pictures. We got hit by double wakes (one from a large cruiser and then we rocked into Disturbed's wake) Then when we shut down and BAHAHAHA almost hit us from behind. Needless to say, that was the end of the day's boating. My wife, Debbie was pretty shook-up and the daughter was scared. It takes a big wake to rock a 253 that bad, I thought we were flipped. The only other time we hit that big of a wake was behind the river boat the Delta Queen (a paddle wheeler) I would have hated to have been in a small low profile boat. Later....
