It occurs to me that as much as I read this site, I dont tend to post nearly so much as I should. Here is a sample of the dozens of pics I've taken of my baby since I got her about a month ago. I never thought I'd have a boat so young (I just turned 26 a few weeks ago), let alone a 21' checkmate. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

you'll notice that lots of things here need cleanup. the engine. the rub rail. the seats, etc. rest assured all that has been taken care of, this pic is several weeks old. I just enjoy this view.

Here is a pic of the cleaned up engine. repainted, new pin-stripes, cute girl's rear.. er, i mean... nevermind.
no that is not the original rear seat. the previous owner was a bit of a... miser when it came to repairing this thing. don't even get me started on some of the stuff we've found he's done to this thing. luckly nothing really major so far.
new front and rear seats, directly from checkmate, are planned for this winter.

here is annother view of the engine. my father put a lot of work into it, so i'm sure he's glad that i posted a pic of it without distraction... although he may not know that yet cause he himself is still stuck on the first pic with my friend in it. hah.

a lot of work yet to go cleaning this boat up and speeding this boat up. my father has some good pics on his camera as well that i'll upload and post here when i get hold of them.
i'll also hopefully get some good action shots when we take this boat down to kerr resovoir in north carolina later this month. if i'm lucky, i'm hoping to be a contender for october's front page pic. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

My God, does that rear end shot look great, and the boat's not bad either... HA HA. Nice boat guy, I love the Checkmates, I know the guy that use to own the boat, he was a real cheap SOB, glad that someone that will take the time to get her to looks like she use to. He ran the thing into the ground. But I know the motor is strong, He just had a new power head put on it. So you should not have any problems with it,Have fun.

SWEEET boat, got any numbers on the speed and set up? I love the starflights, they are one of my favorite models. The model in the back seat is nice too.

with 3 people in the boat and a 21pitch quicksilver prop (not really agressive enough for this boat and engine, but it's what came with the setup), we've had it up to 63 on the speedo, around 6200rpm i believe... although i'm told we were likely closer to a real 60mph. got to get (among many other things) the eqipment to put my family's boat's gps in here.
planed upgrades for the winter are a jackplate/setback unit and a new prop. mike at checkmate reccomended a 23p laser, while i've heard good things on the net about 25p tempests. luckily we've got a great prop store around here called curtis propeller who have a prop test program. you just sign to by A propeller, and keep testing different ones until you find the one that does it for your setup. pretty sweet. we're hoping to eventually see around 70mph with this boat, without doing too much to the engine (i really can't afford to be blowing engines. hah).
Whos the girl in the pic? http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Nice pics (escpecially that one...) http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Friend of mine from work. Actually most of the pics from that trip ended up being of her. I was almost hard pressed to find a pic of the boat from that batch. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
A "friend" from work? What do you do? Also, where are these pics. Hey Chris thats what we need, a "new" image thread that has nothing to do with boats. I'll take some of those pics if they are filling up your space... he heh
