Hello everyone! I am new to this site and I would like to state that I am very impressed with it as well. Chris...............you put a lot time into this site. Hats off to you sir!

Well I guess I will get started with whats up here. Last year my friend bought 2001 30 convincer
named "twice blown" and as you probably already guessed it has twin 454's supercharged. Unfortanatley I am to ignorant to be able to upload or host pics of it but let me tell you this boat hulls ass and looks good too. We are guessing somewhere in the 90's but gps will tell us this year. I get to play 1/2 ass mechanic sometimes plus we are always building things. So here is why I am here. He has been wanting to get rid of the plastic style swim platform and go with one of those fancy tubular swim platforms. Well the price is a little high, probably be about 1500 plus we are assuming, and he is real crazy about drilling extra holes in the back of the boat. So after many beers I tell him i will make him one from solid billit aluminum. I am a cnc machinist plus do design work. I have this all designed up "i have pics i can email folks or if someone can host them i will send them to you, and thanks if you do" but in the center i have left a 10 inch circle that will not be machined out that i would like to go in and engrave radially "Twice Blown" on top, "Checkmate" radially on the bottom and have the horse engraved in the middle.
BDusted's avatar is what i am looking for exactly. Here it is below. Does anyone have this in a larger file. If i have that my cad system can use a raster to vector program to convert it to line geometry that i can use to engrave it. This would look to cool if I could do this, unfortantly BD's avatar is to small. Can anyone of you help me with this. Thanks in advance for any help. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/images/avatars/bdavatar.jpg

I can't help you with the pictures but I was wondering if you had the NC Code File. I would be really interested in seeing it. I teach computer integrated manufacturing. It would be awesome to show it to my class. I can load the NC Code but I may not have the same Post available. I could look at your SAT file. I Run MasterCam currently. But I will be recieveing EdgeCam in 3 months. What program did you create the file in, PRO ENGINEER, INVENTOR, MECHANICAL DESKTOP, SOLID WORKS??

Hello checkrocket! I created it in mastercam, 1st line geomtry then using solids to get the part. If you like i can send you the mc9 file for yourself to view. Keep in mind that this part will be 89.75 x19.75x1.25. This isnt the finished progect though. I did a quick outline to show my friend "dale" what it would look like. I am more of a machinist than i ever will be a designer. Shoot me an email if you like.

That is too cool. Great job on the design.
Welcome to the board. If you have pictures you would like to have on the board, shoot them to Chris and he can get them posted for you.

Welcome to the board CNC. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It's nice to have you aboard, and thank you for the props. But in all honesty, JW, Gus, Checkmate and the members are really what makes our little board what it is. :thumb:

BD's avatar was a pic he provided. So I don't have another version of it. He might have scanned it from a brochure or picture, so perhaps he can tell us the origin of it.

For picture posting, you can either link to the pic if it's on the web somewhere. Or you can send it to me and I'll get it posted for you.

Well lastnight I took my cad program to Dale's house and showed him what it would look like with the exception of the Sea Horse head pic and he loved it, along with his wife. The price of the material is $640.00..........ouch! But he wants me to go ahead and go with it. This week I will be ordering the material to do it. I might spring for a dig camarea to take some pics as i go along with it. We have not decided on what were going to do for coating yet. I mentioned 1st about going with the clear coat polished aluminum look or possibly anodized blue or powder coated blue, so we will see.

Chris, I will probably take you up on the offer to host pics and thank you.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks :thumb:

CNC Wizard,
I checked out the pictures. They look great. I think it would look great in anodized blue. 640, isn't bad considering a new aluminum swim platform form extreme marine runs about `1500 plus tax and delivery.

A little update to whats going on for anyone who might be interested. I ordered the material today and it will be coming wednesday so i am gonna be real busy come this weekend.

I did manage to get the BD'S avatar converted to geometry for my cad system. I did a test piece out of 13x13x1/4 aluminum to show to "dale" the friend i am doing this for and it actually turned out better than i thought. I polishied it till my hands were sore! We are gonna go one step further with this test piece and turn into a clock for the the game room.

In another week or so i should be able to post some pics, I just hope one of my friends will let me steal their camera.
