Hi there, planning to buy a water pressure gauge in the next couple of days and I'm just planning out how best to install it. With respect to the "tube" hookup, I've read where some people have "teed" into the Tattle Tale spout. On my 1993 Evinrude 120 it appears to have a "capped" fitting already there. However, I do beleive it's probably better to have it on the "intake" side which would be on the water jacket portion. I'm pretty sure my Evinrude has a spot to connect a fitting to the water jacket as I see a threaded fitting on the bottom of the starboard side of the block below the thermostat housing etc.
All that to say, what's the appropriate spot to have the tube hooked up, I'm leaning to the water jacket choice as most gauges come with the fitting for that purpose.
As Always Thanks in Advance

I installed mine on the cross over tube going from one head to the other. But this is a merc, and I am sure they are different.

My Yamaha had an extra port on the top of the block, that made it easy. older 235 evinrudes didnt have any ports, so I taped into the top water jacket. I yould not recamend that unless youv had the head off and know what is exactly inside.

I may of found the answer to my own question, I was poking around on the different manufacture web sites (Faria, Teleflex, VDO) and found an installation pdf file at the Teleflex site. They indicate that on my particular engine to connect the tube to the Tattle Tale connector that I mentioned already has a capped fitting. I just have to remove the rubber cap and I'm all set.
I spoke to Mike (Checkmate) this morning and they don't have any of the old VDO water pressure gauges around, from what I've seen I'll probably go with the Faria one, it's a pretty good much to the existing ones. There's a Canadian distributor for VDO not so far away so I'll give them a call and there is one other spot that may have some of the older gauges kicking around.
Once again, the power of the Internet comes thru again !!
