has anyone here ever used one of these stern jack's? They are suppose to give you up to 5 more mph. Most of the testing that i researched on them have been done with checkmate boats. Give me some input peeps.

I had their hyd. jackplate on my 1990/140hp (165hp after mods) diplomat. It helped me to gain mphs but just as inportant reduce my chim walking at WOT. It was great to be able to drop the engine down for skiing and then pick it up for max speed with the flic of a switch. As to how much speed I gained its hard to tell because I put in high performance reeds, Viscosity stacks, and their dual plug high compreshion heads at the same time. I do like their products and had no trouble with eny of their things, the ony thing I had to do was replace the plastic slides in the jack plate (a normal wear iteam), and I had the plate for 12years.

sorry, I see you wanted to know about a stern jack . At first glance I thought it said jackplate, my mistake
Disturbed,
I had inqured about these for my boat only to find out that they are very stressful on a transom. That is from the boys up at Bayview

I thought about putting one on my Persuader 183 but noticed that when the engine was up in the 'trailer' position, a stern-jack would have made the lower unit hit the swim platform. That, plus the cost, kept me from trying one.

I have one of those things on my boat ( 89 concincor) I don't know what is was like before the install as I purchased the boat with it. The guy that I purchased it from said it was the best thing he did to the boat. Not just for speed but stability is much improved.

I may have to try one of these things then. They really aren't that price consuming if you compare it to other brands.(IMCO). I'll have to empty my piggy bank.
