View Full Version : Lightning E.T.
http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gifHas anyone heard much of the Lightning E.T. Its the prop that is made for top speeds. I am looking for one of these! I have seen it on a Hydrostream and it increased top speed greatly, but Checkmates and Hydrostreams are different so I expect different results. Any help is appreciated!

Checkmates may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they are the nicest looking!

Local guy here swears by them for Checkmate's too. I'm dying to try a 24" ET for my Promax......
1995 2100BR/1995 225 Promax/23" Tempest
Why not a 30', I have seen it done on a Pro-Max and it got a farily good increase in Top Speed!

I've seen quite a few choppers cut to ET specs. I don't know if you have a chopper to do that to though...
A 30" on JW's engine wouldn't make the rpm range, I don't think. I've heard 25". Who can
afford $700, especially when you have no clue if
it will run correctly??

Try one first. $700 is alot of $$ for something that sits on the shelf.
I have tried about 14 different props on my boat. I found the laser 2 worked best.
See if you can find one to test before shelling out the $$.

I would like to see the 225 that turned a 30" prop in the proper rpm range.

Don't you need a boat before a PROP?
http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sick.gifYes... But I am just planning ahead, its better to be optimistic... Still looking... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I understand that, I have more parts sitting here for a boat that I don't have yet nor have even seen a completed 240 in person!
http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifTrue True, it always seems you have more part than you will ever need for a boat. If you were really shot for money, you could always sell them. How many props do you have?

No props yet, I won't buy any until I have the boat and I am getting a 4 blade with the boat for whole shot and mid range acceleration. When I find out where I stand as far as RPM's, I am going to get a 3 bladed mirage. At home I have waiting a drive shower, a couple different ampifier and sub set ups. I do not know what will fit and what the stero will take. I got the model number of the stereo from Kip, but nobody knows what the hell it is. I also have some anodized parts waiting to replace some of the boring stainless in the cockpit. If I have time, I am going to pull some of the bigger hardware ad have it powdercoated. I also have sitting here some fine silver flake, some pearl, and clear from House of color to go on the trailer. If it floods here this spring, I will have plenty of time to do the work, or as it is now, the river is at all time lows which means an early start to boating, although if it stays dry, it will be a short summer on the river because not enough water. Already, you can walk across the enterances to some of the Marinas, Shin deep water. That ain't good!

Guys,
Let's try to keep the posts in the Parts Bin forum about parts for sale and wanted. This is a good thread and it's kind of lost in here.
Moving this over to "Play To Win". http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I like your idea will all the speakers/subs though, you have to have rockin' tunes while looking good at the same time. Can't wait to see pictures of your finished product! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

RE. lightning ET. I have one on my 185 pulse with a 280 hp merc and only gained about 2 mph over a tempest plus but the hole shot was way better and mid range cruising was also great. However the prop is designed to be a surfacing prop so if your not running it at least 1 inch below the pad or higher it won't give you alot of additional speed. Most people with checkmates arn't using a nose cone with low water pickups or sportmaster lower units because they loose bow lift and speed. So, If your not running alot of horsepower and the motor jacked up real high and alot of setback, I don't think the lightning ET will give alot of top end gains. C-mate-280
http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifRemember, the same prop on 2 different models will make the results vary. I would be using the boat for skiing, or any other water-sports, late night put-puts, and top speed runs. All I have heard of these props is how good they are... Any problems with them anyone?
