Hey guys, I figured I would ask before I spend. Has anybody tried a Chopper on the older 17foot 18foot Checkmates? I was thinking of trying a 24p chopper on mine. I currently have a 24p laser II and it is runnin 6100 @ WOT. Also I have a small gearcase 84 merc 150, would it fit on there? Thanks for the input!!

For sure try the chopper, but make sure you can 'try' it first to see if you like it. At those rpms, you should try a 26P small hub Laser II. You'll bring your rpms back down to the proper range and give you a few more mph..
