Gorgeous boat...I own a Pulse 185 too, 1996....I had a 175 hp too, but now a 200....I love these boats....mine is black but I love the white one too...no other company, not Donzi or anyone, can match the lines and exterior design of Checkmate!!!

Jim,what kind of speeds do you see with tou Pulse?What prop are you running?Setback?My brother just got one of Checkmate flawed hulls(You have to use a microscope to spot them)and is rigging it with a older 175 Yamaha and a CMC hydrualic lift,5.5 inches of setback.I see a 200 Optimax in the future,when the Jap motor takes a sh!t.

That info is on here some where. When I find it I'll link to it. I don't have the time to look right now. If your going to repower with a 200 I'd get the 200xs if a guy has the funds. I have the problem of the rev. limiter right now at 6000. The xs I think is at 6600 or so. I could run a lot faster if I would prop up , but I don't want to lose the great holeshot I have now. If I can get the limiter set up it would be awsome on top end.

Hey jkeiper,

quick questions, do you have a performance prop on the back of that beauty MERC?? If so, which one?? I bought a Laser II about 6 years ago and it seems pretty good on my boat, slow off the draw but strong when planed...

I run a 23 Tempest that I had modified by DAH propellers. I like the larger blade that the Tempest has over the Laser II. It seems to carry the boat better when you have it jacked up. My biggest problem is the 6000 RPM limiter.
