Please, Everyone, I need all of the help I can get now, My wife was just discovered to have a brain annurism and got out of emergency brain surgery about 8 hours ago from the time I am typing this. So far, she is doing remakably well, I can't say the same for me. I am not a religious person, but please pray with me for a rapid and full recovery to this devastating problem. She is my life, and I can't imagine things without her, so please help me hope for the best. Sorry to be a downer, I just had to get this off my head, my family is so torn up, and I can't talk to them, we are all too emotional! I will probably be out of touch for a couple of days, she was flown to a hospaital about 100 miles from me, so I will be doing a lot of running.

Thank you for all of your thoughts in advance!

Hi Everyone.. just got off the phone with Bill... Stephanie is doing better than expected and feeling better. She'll be in the Hospital for about a week yet. If anyone wants to send Bills wife (Stephanie Fischer) a card.
she's at Osf St. Francis Medical Center, 530 NE Glen Oak, Peoria,IL 61637.

Just a side note, last night before doing Surgery, she was only given a 50/50 chance of coming out of surgery, and with the anurism.. (I know I blew the spelling) she'll have about a six month recovery.. Stephs very lucky they finally found this.. This makes any problems we have look pretty small. Take care! Rick

Thank you so very much everyone!!!! A quick update, Steph was moved out of intensice care today http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and upgraded from critical to stable http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif which is faster than anybody anticipated The surgeon saw Steph about 6 times today and said she is doing remarkably well and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most serious, her anurism was a 10. I would say that right now we are the luckiest people!. Unfortunately, we are still not completely in the clear yet. The first 72hrs after the surgery are the most crucial, we are at about 20 right now.
Thank you again for all of your wishes http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif

Hey everyone. Thank you so much for all of the thoughts and prayers. Stephanie is still doing pretty well although for some reason, she can't quite shake her fever. I was able to get her out of bed tonight for the first time since monday, Doctors say that is great! I came home for a few hours here to get some more clothes, than I am back to be with her. It gets harder each day with the 200 mile round trip drive, but I can't be away from her. I tlod her about all of your posts' and she sends a big Thank You! It helps her maore than you can imagine. The doctor said that if she continues her progress, she will get to come home Monday or Tuesday! That is it for now, Thanks you so much again!

http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif Well... Thank you everyone for all of the kind words and prayers! If all goes well, Stephanie can come home Tues, Feb. 4th! It has been a rough couple of days, she has been trying to fight off pnemoniaand some blood clotting, but as strong as she is, all passed with no real difficulties. Steph had another angiogram and CT scan tonight and all was good. Her 40 staples come out in the morning, than I should be able to start care for her at home. That will be a lot better than driving the 200 miles per day in the worst weather we have had all winter. Ain't that a pisser!?! The surgoen said no boating for 3 monthes, but around here, that will be okay! I told Steph that since she can't go back to work for 6 monthes, she better get ready to polish the hell out the boat. The 6 monthes before work is the alotted time for her to get her vision back in her right eye...
I will be back later, I need sleep!

Thank you again so very much everyone!

Z,
we might be able to get out once or twince in April, but may is when we can really hit it hard http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif No, I will not really make her polish the boat, although I will be taking her for walks and helping her with getting exercise, that is doctors orders. Steph has started calling me The General because I have been pushing her pretty hard in the hospital to get up and walk the hallways and sit in a chair to eat, but all from doctors order. I have to do that to get a full recovery from her brain! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif I heard that nasty rumor from Rick the end of last week sometime because Stephanie was asking to see some pictures of the boat to help give her some incentive, no pictures, no boat started, so I had to be creative with an old outdated brochure http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif

Z06
02-04-2003, 04:35 PM
Its good that your helping her fully recover... How creative did you have to get... LOL http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif You could have just blamed it on Rick... Too bad to hear though... I was expecting pics soon! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/eyes.gif

Z, No, could not blame it on Rick, he does not build them, I guess it is does not become a big deal unless the boat does not get in my hands on time.

This hopefully will be the last real update on Stephanie, After a hospital bill of almost 500,000.00 dollars, I got to bring her home today. The ride home was pretty hard on her, but she is soooo happy to be home and thanks every one of you for the kind thoughts and prayers. She beat the odds and was able to come home, that is all that is important to me now.

Thanks againn to all, from Bill and Steph!!!! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sleep.gif

Almost 500 thousand dollars. That does not include my meals, gas, hotels. I knew there was a reason why I stayed with a smaller boat and thank god for insurance. I guess this is the test to see just how good my insurance is http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif My wifes life is worth every penny and I do not regret anything. I will post a pic when I get some, Last I heard from Rick the other day was the build sheet was going to be filled out today I think and Kip wanted to start it next week. If they sprayed mine green and yellow, they can put that aside and start over. I hope not to bore anyone with this, but I figured a quick update. Steph is doing great, but scared. She still can't open the right eye, and when she pulls the eye open, severe double vision. The doc still sais all should be okay there! We really wanted to go to the Milwaukee show this weekend, but the car ride is a little too long for that this soon. Sorry about this, i just need to vent a little now and maybe this will help someone in the future in the (hopefully) unlikely events anyone should have to go through what Stephanie and I are going through.
Because Stephanie was sent to a Hospital out of state without permisiion from the insurance company, we might not be covered!!!! What the FU** is going on these days with insurance? We pay out the a** in premiums and what do we get? Not a damn thing! I brought my wife into the emrgency room at the local hospital, they did not have the qualified surgeons to do the surgery, so they send her 100 miles away to a hospital in Illinois. No one ever told me there was a question regarding anything about out of state or with out permission or any of that sh**. Beware, insurance companies, help or hurt you?!?!?!?!

Z06
02-14-2003, 03:50 PM

Z06
02-14-2003, 04:21 PM
Still 2500 is still alot... Half a million is even more. To pay that off without insurance, you would have to sell almost everything... You better get this starightened out...

I would just like to ask that if any of you run into me at the boat ramps, please give me an extra minute, I just found out my wifes vision problem from the annurism are permanent. So, i will be launching and retrieving single handedly, which at least around here is still better than most couples, but will take me an extra minute. Around me, people see you launching single handedly while someone else stands around will cause a fight. Be patient, please.

Z06
03-24-2003, 06:41 AM
Come on Bill, if we saw you doing it single handidly, I'd come over and help you for Christ Sakes. I'm not going to sit there and watch someone try to launch a brand new ZT by himself. I would think I am not the only one who agrees? I don't think I will ever run into you, maybe in August but there you will have lots of help. I'm very saddened by your news about the permanent vision http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
