I am getting ready to start shooting primer and paint on the Predictor. I purchased a Husky compressor from Home Depot which came with a general purpose automotive paint gun. Is a gravity fed sprayer better?

Gus, what size nozzle are you using on your spray gun with the Bluewater marine paint?

Don't remember the size of the nozzle but it was smaller than what was recommended. I picked up a husky HVLP from home depot. Worked like a champ. I did some test mix/spray and found that if I mixed 20oz of part "A" and "B" then reduced with 12oz of reducer it sprayed great. Nice even coverage and no clogging of the gun. Clean up after is a bit of a pain. The primer is allot harder than the paint to clean out of the gun.
The main advantage of the HVLP gravity gun is the lack of over spray. The material goes where you want it and not all over everything.

That gun will be fine for primer but not for paint.the rest depends on you're pocket book as to what to buy you can get good guns in both types.Gravity and pressure. Or you can get a minicraft gun for 189 and gell-coat it.

There is this stuff that the NAPA store in my town sells called "Gun Cleaner", and that is what you use to clean the gun out after painting. We used it a fair bit and it did a great job. i don't no whats in it nor do i want to, however it will eat through a plastic bottle in about 20 minutes. it only comes in a 20 Liter pail.
