nevermind I found it
Just make sure you get a variable speed up to at least 3000 RPM.

just a question....do you think a random orbital buffer would work with Aqua-Buff?? It is over 2500rpm

I had a rotary buffer (2500rpm) that I thought would work out for me but I soon realized that it wasn't up to task. Every time I applied a little pressure to it the motor would bog down. A friend of mine suggest I buy a new Dewalt polisher.....with electronic control.......no matter how hard you apply pressure the polisher still delivers constant RPM's.
The down size.......$180.00 price tag.
After using his I was hooked and parted with some cash.
No, a random orbital buffer will not work. They don't really work well for anything put putting on a little wax. The reason they are made is so average Joe doesn't burn a hole in the paint job on his Honda. For gelcoat it must be a rotary buffer used properly, regardless of the compound. You can probably find one for $70-90.

it worked very well on my Chrysler 300m. The one I have is pretty good and It will burn the clearcoat if Im not carefull. I think Im still gonna get the rotary though.
Maybe you have a professional model (like a Porter-Cable). They make very high speed orbitals that are used by professional detailers. Most of the ones you buy at Walmart couldn't burn through tissue paper. Still Aqua-buff states it needs to be rotary.

My friend who use to own your Sportfire use to detail boats on the side. He used a Snap On buffer. The thing would burn a hole right through the boat if you werent paying attention. The thing cost him like 300 bucks, but he got his money's worth out of it. Did a good job on your sportfire too.
