Very cool, another trimate being saved. Boat looks to be in decent shape. Well except for the wood.

Hey Reed
I was looking at coops post of you getting your boat. I have been looking for a windshild for my MX-16 and stumbled upon this. Its original checkmate open bow windshield and may help you out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Checkmate-Windshield-for-open-bow_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50443QQitemZ4630146 427QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I bet you guys did! I hope they didn't say anything to bad about me, hehe. I am waiting for greg to get his trimate merc 200 project done, I need some competition. I was out 2 weeks ago with our other friend steve and his woman in her baja and they were no match me even in the rough stuff. Looks like you met the notorious jermey also, he used to be my roomate back in the day and he is nutz behind the wheel of a boat or anything for that matter. -shane

looks like that will be a nice project it look like the same hull from the back and color as my spectra! hope things go good!Spectra!!! I had to go back and take a look for that. I see some resemblence, but several generations between the two. Good eye, these boats tend to "evolve" from one to another, rather than being created from scratch.
Hey everyone sorry I didn't dissapear I have been workin on the 1979 trimate I have the motor on and re-did the dash to mount some new gauges I will get the pics on monday - Memorial day I will have it done soon and Shane- supergenius will have his hands full trying to keep up with the 860 lb trimate lol. Money has been my only hold up, I posted a question about parts I need in the rigging forum section. I want to thanks Chris, Guss and Coop for all their idea's and help. Keep me posted on how you set that monster up. What are you running for power?

I'm running the same motor as you Gus it's got a 24-pitch chopper prop on it, I hope to get it done asap

Be sure to watch the RPM with the 24 Chopper, I tryed one of them once. I was able to spin the woo out of it. Was not as fast as my laser 2. With the chopper your are looking at spinning the motor about7500 RPM to get into the 80 range.
thanks Gus I'll keep an eye on the tac, I re-worked my dash so I could put more gauges in. I put a water preasure gage, water temp and a trim gauge for the motor and a gauge for my jack-plate, I put a bob's nose cone on and I want to watch temp and preasure to make sure it runs good. I'm putting a rev-limiter on it so if I come out of the water it won't blow ; ) I have the dual tunsingle style trim leavers installed too all that is left is re-wireing the boat stereo and motor and puttin the pumps and seats in and the ( Clean-UP ) wow what a mess lol
HEY every one I test fired ( frankenstine tonite ) ( it lives ),5-30-06 8pm wanted to make sure the wires were hooked up right lol all I have to do is finish wireing up gauges, stereo and plumb the hoses and install interior ( and give the boat a bath yikes very dirty) I'll have her in the water in the next 2 weeks money allowing
Wow ~shakes head~ I was 340 lbs in that pic, ( yikes ) forgot what I looked like in pictures, I'm 280 now lol. I will be working on this Trimate this fall, I picked up a 1974 TRV-17 and trailer, I might make a fishing boat out of that one lol. ( I picked up a 1974 Sturey 16ft with a 140- 4 cyl I/O she needs a lil tlc and she will be for sale , TLC= gettin her running has set for a while, has good interior, newer carpet and seats, tube, knee board and some older life vest go with her when sold.
I just want to add that if any of you have life set backs, just keep your head up and talk to your friends and you can over come anything as long as you keep at it and dig your way back to the top. Life is full of challenges if you feel over whelmed just take a walk to the nearest lake sit by the water take a " Deep Breath" listen to the sound of the water on the shore, recharge your mind and get back to it ~smiles~ * Reed's thought for the day *

Guss my 2.4 I call Frankenstein , I have the carbs and steel reeds off of a competition bass boat 2.4 there are lil to no restrictions to wide open there is instant throttle response I'm going to try a 26 pitch cleaver, I'm looking at buying a 4 - 5 blade 28 pitch later I'll see how the 26 works, I have a electric fuel pump and went to big fuel line to handle the extra need. I have a Bob's nose cone and some extra lil touches ~winks~

Your frankinmotor sounds allot like mine. 2.4 200 with mod VP carbs, boisen reeds, shaved heads, a ton of port work, top pined pistons, dry stacked exhaust. Just a ton of fun.
I also have the bob's nose cone. I have not installed it yet as I want to do some testing on the changes I made to the hull. With the exception of the 6" set back, ( the old plate was a 3") I can duplicate the set up and test the hull. Then do some prop testing. I will plug the top 3 holes and test, then add the cone and see how that works. Should be a good time if I can figure out a way to keep life from getting in the way.
Life is the challenge, the best of us can handle the challenge and rise above it you will do well Grasshopper ~winks~
