Gel Coat haze

I have an 87 enforcer and the gel coat is mint except for a few spots where there is a whitish fading hazie can this be taken out ( wet sand buff) or not. I just got the boat home plan to work on it this week end hopefully get on the water next week.

What should I use on this?

I had the same problem bought aquabuff and it did the trick, Everyone loves it you can see pics under overhaulin 80 sportfire rebuild. cost 10.99 a container used two diferent grades but works really well

It's interesting that you brought up aqua buff I used it today and it left white haze every where. What did I do wrong? I have 3000-rpm polisher. I follow the directions started with 1000 the finished up with 2000 mist when the pad it appear to drying out. I saw your pictures you boat looks great. Any help here would be appreciated.

The haze could just be residue. Have you tried washing it off?
On extremely oxidized boats you will need to do it 2-3 times and the first time will be a bit chalky as you are drawing out the oxidation. Don't move to 2000 until you've got the oxidation out with the 1000.

That does make sence. The boat has been sitting storage for 18 months. It layer of dust inch thick on the front deck. Yes, try washing still there. I guess I'll give hit it a few more times. I'm glad, I bought 1 gallons containers

Just wondering when you put the aqua buff on did you dampen the applicator pad? My boat was sitting in the mountains for about three years uncovered so it was horrible. I find out the more water the better. But dont drench the surface. I also used a Mcguiers restorer after the aqua buff and it seemed to help. Hope this helps you . also I washed it down between each application

Well on the boat deck it was wet maybe to wet. I don't know because I was following the aqua buff directions. How were you applying the paste on polisher or on the boat deck?

I used the polisher but I did go through about 15 pads doing my boat

Yes they appear to be right in the gel coat, you can feel them. Its not bad but would like to get rid of them if I can.

Tazfin, What type of applicator pad did you use for the Aquabuff? A terry cloth type bonnet or lambs wool type? I should be getting my aquabuff this week and wondering what type of pad to get for application. ooops sorry not trying to hijack the thread.:o

Use a cotton rag or spoonge to apply A-B on the deck. Then using a spray bottle mist it and then buff it. Don't wet the pad. The pad will load up with residue if it is wet. In fact it should remain dryish and not loaded. Don't do too big an area at a time because the spinning action dries out the perimeter and it hardens on the surface.
I too used a Maguiar compound for the last buff as well since they have moisturizers in them that seem to remove any remaining hazy streaks.

Not a whole lot you can do for gel coat blistering. Mine got so bad I had to do a repaint. Does the boat stay in the water all season? If so you should think about getting a boat lift.

Mark is right with everything he said. wool bonnet dry pad to buff that is why I used 15 pads.
