I'm looking at a 97 2100 Pulsare / 250EFI
I checked Chris' post of a 98 Pulsare Brochure..
The Question ~ ~ What material are the custom fuel tanks made of ??
The Reason ~ ~ Recently read a Boat US report: Ethanol fuel is starting to enter the market, it is now prevalant in the northeast. Plans are to spread this fuel thruout the country. There have been many reports of fiberglass fuel tanks deteriorating, Tests have been performed, the findings indicate that this fuel is attacking the resins, both polyester and epoxy. There has been as much as 80% degradation in 1 year. this is leading to a new practice of empting tanks for winter storage.. ~ Also ~ if the 2 fuels are mixed a black tar like substance can form which naturally will clog the fuel system...

As far as I can tell the fuel tanks are steel or aluminum. I've just pulled the tank out of my 1994 Pulsare while in the process of replacing the floor and installing composite stringers. The tank is in great shape after 12 years.

Most of the newer boats are some type of plastic or poly. This should not be a problem. The only type of boats that I know of are Douglas Skaters or F1 tunnel boats where the fuel tanks are glassed over wood and form part of the structure of the boats.

My 1988 fuel tank is aluminum! Hopefully the only thing the ethanol will do is clean it up and drink up any moisture.

My 86 is aluminum. When I removed it last summer to clean some dirt out, it looked like new.
